The morning after we got the girls, we took a three hour bus ride to visit the girls orphanage, YangXi
County Social Welfare Institute, and to see their finding sites. We stayed at a four star hotel in the nearby city of Yangjiang.
Upon arriving at YangXi, we were greeted by Ms. Huang, the director of the orphanage, and escorted to a
waiting room with a large table full of fresh fruits. We then met several of the girls nannies and were given the opportunity
to ask questions about our daughters lives in the orphanage. Then we were taken upstairs to a room filled with babies
in their cribs waiting to be adopted. We were introduced to more of the nannies and shown which crib used to belong to our
daughters. While the nannies held our daughters and said their goodbyes, we held and played with as many of the babies as
we could. When you picked one up, the one in the next crib would start crying to be held also. It was so hard to leave and
not take another baby or two with you.
It is rare to be allowed to visit the orphanage; but Uncle Morgan feels it is important to be able
to see where our daughters came from and he goes to great lengths to arrange these visits. On our trip we not only got to
visit the orphanage where our daughters spent the first months of their lives, but we got to visit another orphanage as well.
One of the couples in our group, Deb and Doug, had a 3 year old daughter named Mia who was adopted a couple of years
ago from an orphanage in the nearby city of Maoming and Uncle Morgan had arranged a reunion for her family and her nannies.
