Summer's End
First off, I must apologize for not updating this site all summer long! What can I say? We have had a fun and busy summer!
Madison took swimming lessons early in the summer and took to the water like a fish! She really LOVES the water! She also discovered water slides and squeals with delight everytime she goes down! Needless to say, bathtime is her favorite time of day.
We took Maddie and Little Joe camping for 3 days in a tent. Maddie had a blast. Little Joe would have rather we just stayed home! Maddie thought the tent, with it's big air mattresses, was her own personal jumping house! She also loved playing in the dirt and collecting rocks and climbing on the big rocks.
In July we started her in daycare 2 days a week. It is an at home daycare run by a wonderful lady named Jane Adams. Jane lives in Eaton and has been running her daycare for 26 years. We feel so blessed to have found her and Maddie adores her and really enjoys her time with the other kids. Mommy is learning to enjoy her free time as well, when I am not busy working!
Maddie has really blossomed this summer. She is still very active and curious about everything. She loves to dance and sing and read books. She has really started to talk alot now. She tries to repeat everything you say. In the last month her vocabulary has gone from about 10 words to about 100. She chatters non-stop! Her favorites are "I see it" when she wants something, "Oh no", when she is struggling with something, "Nigh Nigh Moon" when she goes to bed,
"Hellllllllllo" when talking on the phone and "Bye Bye, see you" when saying goodbye. So much fun to watch her grow!
Anyway, now that fall is here, I hope to have the time to update this site more often. So, bear with me and I will upload some more recent photos as well.
Also, we have officially started the process of adopting another baby girl from China. So check out the page "adoption journey" for more information and updates on that!
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
Until next time,
Kathie

Where did April go?
I can't believe it is already May! I apologize for not posting anything new in April...time gets away from me easily these days. We are all doing well and enjoying the springtime weather and playing outdoors. In April we took Maddie to the Denver Zoo for her first time. We were blessed with glorious weather and lots of family from AAC and Denver that joined us for a fun-filled day. That morning started out with Maddie's first Easter egg hunt at Eaton's town park, which was funny to watch. About 5000 candy filled eggs were strewn about in the grass and about 200 kids were let loose and snatched them all up in about 2 minutes! Maddie got her fair share, thanks to a few kind people who felt bad she wasn't getting many. Truth be told, she was just happy with the one egg she picked up and running all around in the grass outside! Then on to Denver where we met Aunt Marnie and cousin Marcus and our extended AAC family for a picnic lunch and a day at the zoo. Then off to downtown Denver and BD's Mongolian BBQ for a nice dinner with the rest of the family to celebrate Grandpa Mike's birthday. What a whirlwind of a day that was!
We celebrated Easter with a delicious brunch at Marnie's house with her family and Grandma & Grandpa. Maddie loved running around the back yard and climbing the steps on the deck and the stairs inside. Needless to say, she keeps me running! I will feel better once she masters coming down the stairs the right way!
Well, that about sums up our month of April. Maddie continues to grow and explore and simply amaze us every day. She is verbalizing alot more now and really trying to talk. She is very busy and very intelligent. She loves to dance and sing and stomp her feet and run!
More pictures and updates coming soon! Love to everyone, K&M

Sunny Days
Yeah...spring is finally here! Of course the first day of spring in Colorado and we got about 5 inches of snow! Maddie had fun playing around in it and making snow angels. It was so bright outside, she was having trouble seeing, so we dug in her drawers and found some sunglasses for her to wear. She LOVES them and has worn them everywhere, except to bed, for the last week now! And believe me, she would wear them to bed if I let her! Now that the snow has melted, we have been enjoying bike rides and walks and trips to the park to play on the swings. I can't wait until it is warm enough to get her in our neighbors pool...she loves her baths and I think she will take to the water just like a fish! I also look forward to digging in the dirt with her and planting a few flowers and vegetables. We will have to invest in a playground for her this summer too. There are just so many fun things I look forward to doing with Maddie this summer! But for now we are enjoying the springtime in the Rockies and realize that there will probably be at least one more spring snowfall before the warm weather is here for good! I LOVE this time of year!!
